Sure, Blake Shelton may be proud of his Oklahoma roots, but that doesn’t mean he won’t pitch in to help someone from the neighboring state of Texas. Such was the case recently when the country star surprised Mrs. Gressett, a first grade teacher in Texas who Tweeted for some assistance from Shelton when it came to knocking off items on her school supplies list for the upcoming school year.
Amazingly, Blake wrote back the next day saying “I’ve had a few drinks. I’ll take care of it for ya.” Later, Gressett Tweeted that her list was cleared, warming our hearts so much. Along with Shelton, many more kindhearted individuals jumped in to help, with comments ranging from the quip, “I’m sober and at the gym and just bought all of your books for you. Thank you for all you do. They will arrive this week” to a Texas children’s book author offering to send copies of her books to her classroom.
We’re grateful Shelton and other generous people on Twitter were able to pitch in and help this teacher out.
Kindness, as they say, is contagious. Even, as it turns out, in the Twitterverse. Thanks for jumping in to help, Mr. Shelton.
