Birthday wishes are in order for one of our favorite home renovation stars, HGTV Home Town’s Ben Napier. Yesterday, September 24 marked the woodworking guru’s 37th birthday, and his wife Erin Napier marked the occasion with an oh-so-sweet missive. “It’s Big’s birthday and so far he has celebrated with apple pie, a gallon of coffee and Christmas music. I’m so happy you were born, @scotsman.co,” she captioned a snapshot of the two, with Ben looking dapper in a blue jean shirt and Erin sporting a yellow and floral frock, as they stand on a street in what is presumably downtown Laurel....

Everything was in place for Savannah Kulenic and Dylan Perkins’ dream wedding in Hawaii, but, unfortunately, COVID-19 had other plans. Even without a venue or a ring for Perkins, the North Carolina couple was determined to make their nuptials happen. The Louisiana teens and members of the Parkway High School fishing team made history by becoming the first all-girls team to win a high school fishing state championship anywhere in the country. In addition, they set records as the first all-girls team to win a North Louisiana High School state fishing tournament and the first-all girls team to win a TBF (Bass Federation) event in the nation....

A man from Peachtree Corners, Georgia, went from performing in his basement to earning a standing ovation from all three judges on Sunday’s episode of American Idol. Sam Finelli, who is on the autism spectrum, pushed his nerves aside to audition for the ABC show’s fifth season, and inspired the country in the process. “I don’t connect with people very well. It’s just a small part of who I am, it’s not all of who I am,” he said of his high-functioning diagnosis....

Residents of Jacksonville’s historic Springfield neighborhood have come up with a uniquely Southern way of spreading a little bit of joy during the coronavirus pandemic: a porch decorating contest. The event was organized by neighborhood residents Kat Ott and Leah Rose, who got the idea from a news story about communities across the country that have been re-hanging their holiday lights as a sign of hope and solidarity in these unprecedented times....

If anyone can do it, it’s gotta be Luke. In a recent interview with FBE, Luke Bryan was challenged to quite the feat: Sing 100 country music songs from various decades in 10 minutes. More specifically, the country star was presented with a song title and artist and asked to sing a line or two from the song to show he knows it. Ella Bruning is the talk of the Little League World Series. The 12-year-old starting catcher for the Wylie Little League team from Abilene, Texas, is the lone girl competing in this year’s tournament. Ella is only the 20th female to play in the Little League World Series (LLWS) in the event’s 73 years. “She’s a role model for my daughter and a bunch of the younger sisters on this team,” Texas manager Reggie Regala told the Associated Press....

“Is that Santa’s deer?” A young child asked a fair question after spotting a rare albino deer in their family’s Raleigh, North Carolina, neighborhood recently. In a video submitted to WRAL, the cute kid can be heard asking what we’re all thinking as a stark white deer strolls out of sight. Albinism is a congenital condition defined by the absence of pigment. Albino deer have a completely white hide and pink eyes, nose, and hooves....
