There are two types of people in the world—those who have seen Hamilton and those who have yet to see Hamilton. It’s a truth universally acknowledged that we all will, eventually, get to see Hamilton. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait, because the hit Broadway musical was recorded live—with the original cast—and will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning on July 3, 2020. Hamilton has music, lyrics, and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It premiered on Broadway in 2015 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It also took home the Tonys for Best Book, Original Score, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Direction, Choreography, and Orchestrations. Performers from the original cast also took home honors, including Best Actor in a Musical for Leslie Odom Jr., Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Daveed Diggs, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Renée Elise Goldsberry.

The Hamilton film was recorded live at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2016. The production is directed by Tommy Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. It stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson, Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Jonathan Groff.
